Chronicles of the Sages

Comment Policy

I’m going to keep this very simple, as I firmly believe in everyone’s right to free speech. This is not a totalitarian website, big brother is not watching you. I’m not here to control your every word, and I don’t care if you disagree with me or anyone else. In fact, disagreements go a long way in sharpening minds and facilitating further conversation.

But I’m sure we have all been in conversations that became so unbearably stupid and profane that everyone just signed off and the host was forced to either apologize or start deleting comments, and I would hate to find myself in that situation.

Remember that the goal here is to push yourself towards being a wiser, stronger, more well-rounded person. In a word, sagely. You want allies, not enemies. You want people to admire you, not despise and laugh at you. Produce content that you and everyone else can be proud of.

So every time you make a comment, ask yourself, “what would a Sage do?” Indeed, what sort of comment would Mark Twain, or Friedrich Nietzsche, or Confucius, or Socrates, (or Gandalf, or Yoda) make? Would they be rife with profanity, four letter words, and a painfully obvious lack of educated forethought? Probably not.

Keep it clean, keep it witty, keep it readable. You will be rewarded in more ways than you can know. Also try to avoid outright spam and affiliate links, but I welcome links to related content that you think will be helpful in the conversation.

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge. We all appreciate it. You never know where your words will go and how many people you will influence for the better.
